Premium funding is a payment option that allows you to spread the cost of your insurance over the period you are insured—usually 12 months.
Before choosing premium funding, it’s important to understand that this is a loan. You should be aware of the fees involved and what may happen if you cancel your policy early.
We work with two premium funding providers: Financial Synergy Ltd and Hunter Premium Funding. We have selected these providers because we believe they offer competitive terms and great customer service.
Both companies are third-party finance providers that specialise in insurance premium funding. It’s important that you carefully read any quote they provide and make sure you understand their terms and conditions.
JRI earns a commission for each policy that is placed with a provider; up to 5% of the funded amount. You can see the exact commission rates in the table at the bottom of this page.
How Premium Funding Works
The premium funder pays upfront
The premium funder pays your insurance premium in full to the insurer via JRI at the beginning of the insurance period.
You repay over time
You repay the loan to the premium funder over an agreed fixed term, usually 12 months.
Your total cost includes more than just the premium
The total loan amount includes:
- your insurance premium
- an initial setup fee
- interest
- any other disclosed fees or commissions
Setup fee
The initial setup fee starts from $20.00, and depends on the amount borrowed and the provider. This fee is non-refundable.
How you can find out your exact costs
Your premium funding quote will clearly show:
- the total amount financed
- the interest rate
- the repayment schedule
- the total cost of the loan
Make sure you review this information carefully before proceeding.
