At JRI Limited, we take your privacy seriously.
We are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us, in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and our obligations as a licensed Financial Advice Provider (FAP).
What we collect
We collect personal information necessary to provide you with insurance advice, services, and support. This may include contact details, date of birth, employment information, details of your insurance history and claims, financial or billing information, information you provide via our website such as online forms, and any other personal information you choose to share with us. If you do not provide certain information, we may not be able to offer you the services or cover you need.
How we collect information
We collect personal information directly from you, whether in person, online, by phone, or email. We may also collect it from third parties such as your current insurer or other service providers, with your permission, and from publicly available sources when necessary.
Why we collect it
We use your information to advise on and arrange insurance policies, manage claims and payments, communicate with you about your insurance and our services, meet our legal and regulatory obligations including under the Financial Markets Conduct Act, conduct internal reporting, audits, and market research, and let you know about services we think may interest you.
We may add your email address to our secure mailing platform to occasionally send you useful information such as newsletters or updates about our services. You can opt out of these messages at any time, and your preferences will be fully respected.
In the event of a disruption to our business operations - for example, if our office is temporarily closed due to emergency circumstances - we may also use your contact details to let you know how and when you can get in touch with us about your insurance.
Who we share it with
We may share your personal information with insurers, reinsurers, insurance intermediaries, service providers such as assessors, IT, legal and accounting professionals, co-insureds or other named parties on your policy, and government agencies or regulators where required by law.
We may disclose your personal information to the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) if required, for the purposes of monitoring our compliance with financial advice laws under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013.
We do not sell your information, and we only share it when it’s necessary to deliver our services or meet our legal obligations.
How we protect your information
We store your personal information securely and take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss or unauthorised access. While no system is completely secure, we continuously review and improve our safeguards, with structured plans in place. We retain personal information for as long as necessary to meet legal or operational requirements, typically for seven years.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to request corrections if any of that information is wrong or out of date. To make a request or update your details, please contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.
Sharing information about others
If you provide us with someone else’s personal information, you must have their consent to do so and inform them how their information may be used. If we share personal information with you such as in your role as a referrer, you must handle it in accordance with the Privacy Act and only use it for the agreed purpose.
